The iShares Large Cap Moderate Quarterly Laddered ETF seeks to provide exposure to large cap U.S. equities with downside protection through a series of buffers with staggered maturities. Each buffer is designed to provide downside protection from approximately the first 5% of losses, in exchange for limited upside potential. The fund offers a way to seek downside protection while mitigating timing risk through a laddered buffer strategy.

Strategy Characteristics

The Fund seeks to obtain downside protection by employing a “laddered” strategy pursuant to which it buys and sells approximately three-month Flexible Exchange Options or other exchange-traded options (referred to herein as “FLEX Options”) with overlapping expiration dates on a rolling basis. Each three-month period is referred to as a “Tranche” and each set of FLEX Options for that Tranche is designed to provide exposure to the share price return of the Underlying ETF (referred to below as the “Reference Asset”) up to an approximate upside limit (“Tranche Cap”), while seeking to provide downside protection (a “buffer”) against approximately the first 5% of Underlying ETF losses (“Tranche Buffer”). When one set of FLEX Options ends, another set of FLEX Options is entered into by the Fund. The table below reflects the estimated information for each Tranche before fees and expenses of the Fund and provides an indication of the Tranche Cap and Tranche Buffer within each Tranche; however, please note that the table does not reflect the potential upside limit or downside protection for the Fund as a whole.

Data PointDefinition
Tranche Start Date The start date of the Tranche.
Tranche End Date The last day of the Tranche.
Initial Reference Asset Value Price of the Reference Asset as of the close of market on the day before the Tranche Start Date
Tranche Cap Value The price of the Reference Asset at which the Tranche Cap is reached. The Tranche Cap Value is based on the strike price of the written call options sold in connection with the Tranche. Note that the Fund may not write such call options when they provide limited to no economic value to the Fund and, therefore, the Tranche Cap may at times be greater than indicated.
Initial Tranche Cap Percentage The percentage increase in the Reference Asset Value (as of the Tranche Start Date) until the Tranche Cap Value is reached, determined as of the Tranche Start Date. This is the approximate upside limit for the Tranche. The Initial Tranche Cap Percentage is calculated as follows: (Tranche Cap Value – Reference Asset Value as of the Tranche Start Date) / Reference Asset Value as of the Tranche Start Date.
Tranche Buffer Start Value The price of the Reference Asset at which the downside protection from the Tranche Buffer starts. The Tranche Buffer Start Value is based on the strike price of the put options purchased in the set of FLEX Options included in the Tranche.
Initial Tranche Buffer Start Percentage The percentage reduction in the Reference Asset Value (as of the Tranche Start Date) before the downside protection from the Tranche Buffer starts, determined as of the Tranche Start Date. The Initial Tranche Buffer Start Percentage is calculated as follows: (Tranche Buffer Start Value – Reference Asset Value as of the Tranche Start Date) / Reference Asset Value as of the Tranche Start Date.
Tranche Buffer End Value The price of the Reference Asset at which the downside protection from the Tranche Buffer ends. The Tranche Buffer End Value is based on the strike price of the options written in the set of FLEX Options included in the Tranche.
Initial Tranche Buffer End Percentage The percentage reduction in the Reference Asset Value (as of the Tranche Start Date) before the Tranche reaches the Tranche Buffer End Value, and there is no longer any downside protection, determined as of the Tranche Start Date. The Initial Tranche Buffer End Percentage is calculated as follows: (Tranche Buffer End Value – Reference Asset Value as of the Outcome Tranche Start Date) / Reference Asset Value as of the Outcome Tranche Start Date.
Remaining Tranche Period The days remaining in a Tranche until the Tranche End Date.
Reference Asset Value The current price of the Reference Asset.
Remaining Tranche Cap Percentage The percentage change in the current Reference Asset Value until the Tranche Cap Value is reached and is the current approximate upside limit for the Tranche. The Remaining Tranche Cap Percentage is calculated as follows: (Tranche Cap Value – Reference Asset Value) / Reference Asset Value. On the Tranche Start Date, the Remaining Tranche Cap is the Initial Tranche Cap Percentage.
Reference Asset Value Change to Tranche Buffer Start The percentage change in the current Reference Asset Value until the price of the Reference Asset reaches the Tranche Buffer Start Value and provides downside protection until the Tranche Buffer End Value. The Reference Asset Value Change to Tranche Buffer Start is calculated as follows: (Tranche Buffer Start Value – Reference Asset Value) / Reference Asset Value. At the Tranche Start Date, this is the Initial Tranche Buffer Start Percentage.
Reference Asset Value Change to Tranche Buffer End The percentage change in the current Reference Asset Value until the price of the Reference Asset reaches the Tranche Buffer End Value. The Reference Asset Value Change to Tranche Buffer End is calculated as follows: (Tranche Buffer End Value – Reference Asset Value) / Reference Asset Value. At the Tranche Start Date, this is the Initial Tranche Buffer End Percentage.
Tranche Weight of the Fund The approximate weight of the set of FLEX Options in the Tranche relative to the overall portfolio of the Fund

Holdings

Holdings are subject to change.

For options contracts held within the fund, the maturity date represents the expiration date of the contract.

The values shown for “market value,” “weight,” and “notional value” (the “calculated values”) are based off of a price provided by a third-party pricing vendor for the portfolio holding and do not reflect the impact of systematic fair valuation (“the vendor price”). The vendor price is not necessarily the price at which the Fund values the portfolio holding for the purposes of determining its net asset value (the “valuation price”). Holdings data shown reflects the investment book of record, which may differ from the accounting book of record used for the purposes of determining the Net Assets of the Fund. Notional value represents the portfolio's exposures based on the economic value of investments and options are delta-adjusted. Additionally, where applicable, foreign currency exchange rates with respect to the portfolio holdings denominated in non-U.S. currencies for the valuation price will be generally determined as of the close of business on the New York Stock Exchange, whereas for the vendor price will be generally determined as of 4 p.m. London. The calculated values may have been different if the valuation price were to have been used to calculate such values. The vendor price is as of the most recent date for which a price is available and may not necessarily be as of the date shown above.

Please see the “Determination of Net Asset Value” section of each Fund’s prospectus for additional information on the Fund’s valuation policies and procedures.

“Quantity” represents the number of shares, units or contracts of the corresponding security, as applicable per security type.
