Head of Asset Allocation for BlackRock’s Global Allocation Fund
Russ Koesterich, CFA, JD, Managing Director and head of Asset Allocation, is a member of the Global Allocation team within BlackRock's Multi-Asset Strategies Group. He serves as a member of BlackRock's Americas Executive Committee.
Mr. Koesterich's service with the firm dates back to 2005, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. Prior to his current role, Mr. Koesterich was BlackRock's Global Chief Investment Strategist and Chairman of the Investment Committee for the Model Portfolio Solutions business. Previously, he served as the Global Head of Investment Strategy for scientific active equities and as senior portfolio manager in the US Market Neutral Group. Prior to joining BGI, Mr. Koesterich was the Chief North American Strategist at State Street Bank and Trust. He began his investment career at Instinet Research Partners where he occupied several positions in research, including Director of Investment Strategy for both U.S. and European research, and Equity Analyst. He is a frequent contributor to financials news media and the author of two books, including his most recent "The Ten Trillion Dollar Gamble."
Mr. Koesterich earned a BA in history from Brandeis University, a JD from Boston College and an MBA from Columbia University. He is a CFA Charterholder.
Nelli Oster, PhD, is an Investment Strategist in BlackRock's Multi-Asset Strategies Group, where her responsibilities include developing tactical country, sector and asset allocation models for implementation with iShares ETFs, in addition to relating the Investment Strategy Team's research and investment views to key institutional and financial advisor clients.
Nelli’s service with the firm dates back to 2008, including her time with Barclays Global Investors (BGI) which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI Dr. Oster did research and portfolio management in the firm’s quantitative stock selection business across the global portfolios. Prior to joining BGI, Nelli was an Equity Research Analyst at Goldman Sachs after beginning her career in the Mergers and Acquisitions group of Salomon Smith Barney.
Nelli holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Sciences from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Finance from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where her Behavioral Finance dissertation focused on expectations formation and learning in the financial markets.
Matthew Tucker, Managing Director, Head of Fixed Income iShares Strategy
Matthew Tucker, CFA, is Head of iShares Fixed Income Strategy Americas within BlackRock’s Fixed Income Portfolio Management Team and has spent the past 16 years focused on fixed income portfolio management, analytics and strategy. Matt leads the investment strategy for fixed income ETFs in North America and Latin America, focusing on product development, client support, and thought leadership. He previously worked with Barclays Global Investors before it merged with BlackRock, and he led the U.S. Fixed Income Investment Solutions team responsible for overseeing product strategy for active, index, enhanced index, iShares and long/short products. Matt was also a portfolio manager and a trader in fixed income focused on U.S. government securities. He began his career at Barra, where he supported clients using the company’s fixed income analytics. Matt holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
Stephen Laipply is a member of BlackRock’s Model-Based Fixed Income Portfolio Management Group. Stephen’s service with the firm dates back to 2009, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was a senior investment strategist on the U.S. Fixed Income Investment Solutions team, responsible for developing and delivering fixed income solutions to clients.
Stephen focuses primarily on the iShares (ETF) fixed income product suite. Prior to joining BGI, he was a senior member in both of the Strategic Solutions and Interest Rate Structuring Groups at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he structured and marketed fixed income solutions across interest rates, credit and mortgages to institutional investors. Stephen earned a BS degree, with honors, in finance from Miami University, and an MBA in finance from the University of Pennsylvania.
Kurt Reiman is a Global Investment Strategist for BlackRock where his responsibilities include relating the Investment Strategy Team's research and investment views to key institutional and financial advisor clients and offering perspective on all asset classes – including equities, fixed income, alternatives and multi-sector approaches to investing.
Kurt joined the firm in 2013 with more than15 years of experience in investment research and strategy. Prior to joining BlackRock, he was the Head of Thematic Research at UBS Wealth Management in Zurich and New York. Kurt also held analyst positions at Reuters and the G7 Group.
Kurt earned a BS degree in business and economics from the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh and his Master of Science in international relations with a concentration in international economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
Heidi Richardson, Managing Director, is the Head of U.S. Investment Strategy for iShares, part of the Global Investment Strategies & Insight (ISI) Group. Global ISI delivers macro and market insight, leveraging BlackRock's thought leadership platforms to provide iShares clients with executable investment ideas using iShares ETFs.
Ms. Richardson was most recently a Global Investment Strategist for BlackRock where her responsibilities include relating the Investment Strategy Team's research and investment views to key institutional and financial advisor clients and offering perspective on all asset classes - including equities, fixed income, alternatives and multi-sector approaches to investing.
Ms. Richardson joined the firm in 2010. Prior to joining BlackRock, she spent 6 years at Alliance Bernstein as a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager specializing in non-US equities. Before that, she was a Vice President and Client Portfolio Manager with both Marsico Capital Management and Goldman Sachs Asset Management. She began her career in 1987 as a short-duration portfolio manager for the Blackstone Bank & Trust Company.
Ms. Richardson holds the CPM designation and is a member of the CFA Society of San Francisco. Ms. Richardson earned her B.S. degree from Bentley University.
