Investment Approach


The Fund aims to achieve a total return on your investment, through a combination of capital growth and income, which reflects the return of the Bloomberg Capital Euro Aggregate Corporate Index (the "Index").

The Fund invests predominantly in the fixed income (FI) securities (such as bonds) which make up the benchmark index (which comprises corporate bonds).

The FI securities may be issued by companies, governments and government agencies of both European Monetary Union (EMU) and non-EMU participant states and supranationals (e.g. the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development) domiciled in countries both in and outside the European Union. The FI securities will be investment grade (i.e. meet a specified level of credit worthiness) or are deemed by the investment manager to be of equivalent rating at the time of purchase. If the credit rating of a FI security is downgraded, the Fund may continue to hold this, until it is practicable to sell the position.

The fund invests a large portion of assets which are denominated in other currencies; hence changes in the relevant exchange rate will affect the value of the investment. The fund invests in fixed interest securities issued by companies which, compared to bonds issued or guaranteed by governments, are exposed to greater risk of default in the repayment of the capital provided to the company or interest payments due to the fund.

All currency hedged share classes of this fund use derivatives to hedge currency risk. The use of derivatives for a share class could pose a potential risk of contagion (also known as spill-over) to other share classes in the fund. The fund’s management company will ensure appropriate procedures are in place to minimise contagion risk to other share class.
