Richard Turnil
Richard Turnill
BlackRock Global Chief Investment Strategist
Richard Turnill is leading the Investment Strategy Function within the BlackRock Investment Institute (BII). He is also responsible for ensuring we create, coordinate and communicate value added market and investment insights and deliver them consistently to our clients and client facing professionals.

Richard’s service with the firm dates back to 1996, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), which merged with BlackRock in 2006. At MLIM, he led the global equity team and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the investment process. Earlier, Richard was a group economist in MLIM's Central Strategy Group, head of MLIM's asset allocation and economics team, and was the Chief Investment Officer for the Merrill Lynch Global Private Client discretionary business in EMEA Pacific.

Prior to his current role, Richard was Chief Investment Strategist for the Alpha Strategies Group, responsible for developing strategic plans around the Alpha Strategies product range and the positioning of Alpha Strategies products both internally and externally. He has also served as Head of the Global Equity team within the Fundamental Active Equity division of BlackRock's Portfolio Management Group. He was responsible for leading the team which manages large cap global equity portfolios.

After earning an MA degree in Economics from Cambridge University in 1991, Richard worked in the international division of the Bank of England and the global economics team of Paribas Capital Markets in London as an economic advisor.

Isabelle Mateos y Lago
BlackRock’s Chief Multi-Asset Strategist
As part of the BlackRock Investment Institute (BII), Isabelle is responsible for developing and delivering thought leadership, helping shape BII’s macro views, creating actionable market views based on the insights of our investment community, and representing BlackRock’s market views across client channels and in the media globally.

Isabelle's service with the firm dates back to January 2015. She initially worked as senior advisor to Philipp Hildebrand and from February 2016 onwards combined this role with that of global macro investment strategist in the BlackRock Investment Institute. Prior to joining BlackRock, she was a senior official at the IMF, where she worked for 15 years in a range of positions straddling economic analysis, policy making, strategy, and global governance (including as G20-liaison and as a Member of the Executive Board). She started her career at the French Ministry of Finance.

Isabelle is a member of the Board of Bruegel, a leading European policy think tank. She is also a member of the Inspection generale des finances and a graduate of the Ecole nationale d'administration and Sciences Po, Paris. She earned a master's degree in economics from the University of Cambridge

Wei Li
Wei Li
iShares EMEA Head of Investment Strategy
Wei Li leads the team responsible for providing ETF and index investment trade ideas and market insights to institutional and wealth clients.

Wei joined BlackRock in August 2010 from Citigroup London, where she was an equity derivatives trader responsible for the ETF and European trading books. Prior to that she began her career at Lehman Brothers in London as a rate sales trader.

As well as holding an MA (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, Wei is a two-time Mathematical Olympiad gold medallist.

Brett Pybus, CFA
iShares EMEA Fixed Income Product Strategy
Brett Pybus leads the iShares EMEA Fixed Income Product Strategy team. He is a member of the Product Strategy Team within BlackRock's Global Fixed Income Portfolio Management Group, where he focuses on Model-Based Fixed Income in the UK.

Brett came to BlackRock in 2013 from UBS Global Asset Management, where he had spent five years as a fixed income investment specialist focusing on global, currency and high yield strategies. Prior to that he worked across the full range of fixed income strategies for Lehman Brothers Asset Management between 2005 and 2008. Brett started his career in 1999 at Morgan Stanley Investment Management where he worked for the Strategic Planning and Product Development group.

A CFA charterholder, Brett is a graduate of University College London where he earned an MSc in Economics. He also holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Southampton.

Rob Powell
Rob Powell, CFA
Product Strategist
Rob is an investment strategist in the iShares Capital Markets Team. He is the lead strategist for the iShares Thematic Fund range, his role encompasses business development, product strategy and client communications. He is also responsible for EMEA ETP flows communications strategy for iShares, providing insight and content around the global ETP landscape.

He joined BlackRock in January 2015 from Legal & General Investment Management, where he was Product Specialist for the fundamental active equity business focusing on Asian and UK equity income strategies. Prior to this, Rob was a member of the sales team at hedge fund provider, Gartmore.

Rob earned a degree in Modern Languages from Newcastle University, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Karim Chedid
Karim Chedid, CAIA
Investment Strategist
Karim is the wealth channel lead for the iShares Markets and Investment Strategy team. Karim’s responsibilities include delivering ETF and index investment trade ideas and market insights to institutional and wealth clients.

Karim joined BlackRock in January 2013 from Nomura where he was an Equity Derivatives strategist generating trade ideas. Mr. Chedid holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from the American University of Beirut (AUB), where he specialised in Macro Economics, Game Theory, and Political Science. He also holds an MSc in Urban Economic Development from University College London (UCL). Karim is always up for a good debate on macro matters and geopolitics.
